Catharsis explained
Catharsis is the process of releasing strong or pent-up emotions through art. Aristotle coined the term catharsis—which comes from the Greek kathairein meaning "to cleanse or purge"—to describe the release of emotional tension that he believed spectators experienced while watching dramatic tragedy. Today, the word "catharsis" can be used in reference to any experience of emotional release or cleansing brought about by a work of art. 1
We have all experienced catharsis. We started this blog in 2020 when the world came to a halt. This space served as a reminder to breathe, be present, and stay true to ourselves. However, life threw a few cathartic experiences our way. It took us four years to reset, reconsider, and reassess our direction in life. Now, we are here, taking a completely different path, but with a clear sense of what we want. Join us on this new catharsis journey.
